28. November 2016 - 14:07

Minister of Defence Mr. Margus Tsahkna met in Tallinn with the Chief of the General Staff and Сommander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Viktor Muzhenko and confirmed Estonia’s steadfast support for Ukraine.

General Muzhenko gave Minister of Defence Margus Tsahkna a thorough overview of the situation in Ukraine.

“Estonia steadfastly supports the efforts of the international community to protect Ukraine's sovereignty and restore its territorial integrity," said Minister  Tsahkna.

According to Tsahkna, a prerequisite for the easing of sanctions against Russia is the return of Russia to the commonly recognised principles of international law.

Defence related cooperation between Estonia and Ukraine has been fruitful and beneficial for both parties.  Estonia will continue to support Ukraine in all current areas, of which the most important are currently the training of Ukrainian special forces, battlefield medicine, and rehabilitation related cooperation.
